Affidavit of Nanavati Commission
I, Jaswant Singh S/o S. Udham Singh aged about 60 yrs. R/o B-19 D, Tilak Vihar, Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-
1. That in Nov.`84, I was residing with my family at H.No. 544, Kabir Basti, Malka Ganj Road, Subzi Mandi, Delhi-7.
2. That on 1st Nov.`84, consequent to the death of Mrs. Indira Gandhi the rioters attacked our colony and were raising slogans “In Sardaron Ne Indira Gandhi Ko Marra Hai” and “Hum In Sardaron Ko Nahin Chorenge”. The mob consisted of thousands of people who were carrying deadly arms on their person.
3. That the rioters immediately started burning and looting the properties belonging to the Sikhs. They had killed Bhagat Singh S/o Sh. Udham Singh R/o 576, Kabir Basti, Sh. Sukhbir Singh S/o Sh. Bhagat Singh R/o 576, Kabir Basti, S. Jaswant Singh S/o S. Puran Singh R/o 576, Kabir Basti, S. Balbir Singh S/o S. Bhagwan Singh R/o Kabir Basti, S. Mangal Singh S/o S.Sant Singh, R/o Kabir Basti, S. Gurmukh Singh S/o S. Mangal Singh R/o 575, Kabir Basti, S. Santokh Singh S/o S. Mangal Singh R/o 575, Kabir Basti, S. Darshan Singh S/o S. Mohan Singh R/o 574, Kabir Basti, S. Jagga Singh S/o Darshan Singh, R/o 574, Kabir Basti, S. Surinder Singh S/o S. Dilbagh Singh, R/o 574, Kabir Basti. That after killing the above named persons, they were burnt on the main road by the mob.
4. That the rioters had also burnt my house and looted my properties. I have not received any compensation so far. A copy of the FIR No. 639 dtd. 1-11-84 with regard to the above incidence registered under sections 147,148,149,302,120 B, 396, 210 IPC alongwith complaint to SHO P.S. Subzi Mandi, Delhi alongwith inventory of goods / articles who which were looted / destroyed by rioting at my house / shop bearing Municipal No. H.No. 544 situated at Kabir Basti Malka Ganj Road, Subzi Mandi, Delhi-7 dated 1-11-84.
