In Hari Nagar Ashram, at the home of Sikh Congress party supporters, they closed their electrical goods shop as a mark of respect to the Prime Minister. The next day, police from the Sunlight Colony, Hari Nagar Ashram arrived and spoke to members of the mob who had gathered in the area. Soon after, kerosene and chemicals were thrown inside the house of Kulwant Singh. The family had no choice but to flee for their lives. The moment they came out of their house, they were attacked with iron rods. All the bodies of the injured male members, Kulwant Singh, his younger brothers, Jagtar Singh and Gurmeet Singh and Kulwant’s father, Hajara Singh were heaped in a pile, doused in kerosene oil and set alight. The mob members began to dance to ‘celebrate the bonfire’.1
