Affidavit submitted before Misra Commission (1987).
I, Mohinder Singh son of S. Karam Singh, resident of Y-Block, Nangloi-I, presently resident of 127-B, Block, Tilak Vihar, New Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and state on oath as under: –
1. On 1st November, 1984, I was sitting in my house with my family, when I heard the noise being made by a mob outside. We all climbed hurriedly on to the terrace. It was about 11 – 12 AM. People were coming shouting from afar and were carrying lathies, iron rods, kerosene petrol tins. They were shouting slogans, “Maro, Maro” (Kill, Kill). They started pelting stones on the Gurdwara located in front of our lane. Some of them were wearing Khaki paints! We all gathered at the gate of the Gurdwara and kept on defending ourselves from the mob with stones. Truck loads of people kept on arriving and for quite some time we faced their barrage of stones.
2. At about 5 PM, we (men) came to X-Block, ladies had already left earlier. We hid ourselves in a old vacant house. We were about 10 to 12 people, rest of us had scattered. There we stayed upto 2:30 AM, at night. We were all the time listening to shouts, “Pakro, Maro” (catch them kill them).
3. At 3 AM, on 2-11-84, we came to Nangloi-3, J.J. Colony, there people were sitting in groups, we were surrounded by those groups. Five / escaped and five / six were captured there. Those who were caught behind their names are as under: –
a. Kultar Singh S/o Ishar Singh
b. Harbhajan Singh S/o Gokal Singh
c. Harcharan Singh S/o Jagat Singh, who had come to Vikaspuri, Nangloi to see his uncle Gurcharan Singh
d. Jaspal Singh S/o Amir Singh Pardhan
e. Rajinder Singh S/o Bahadur Singh
The names of those who escaped are as under: –
1. Amrik Singh S/o Preetam Singh
2. Devinder Singh S/o Jamil Singh
3. Deepa S/o Jamil Singh
4. Ramsaran Singh S/o Khayal Chand
5. Ranjeet Singh S/o Lachman Singh
Six of us in a badly wouned condition came to Shahdara from the side of Ganda Nallah. Here we came to Gurdwara on reaching here we came to know, that five people who were left behind have been killed.
4. From there we came to Bhatha Sahib Gurdwara Camp, B-Block, at Tilak Nagar, where I came to know that my father was also among the killed.
