Affidavit submitted before Misra Commission (1987).
I, Rajani Devi aged 27 years, w/o Sh. Sardar Singh r/o Qr. No. C-49 DDA Flats Slum Tenements, Garhi, New Delhi, do hereby on solemn affirmation state and declare as under.
1. I alongwith my family was earlier residing in Qr. No. 274 Block-X, Mangolpuri, Delhi at the relevant time, as a tenant of one scheduled caste.
2. That on 1.11.84 we were turned out by our landlord from our house forcibly. We had come there only about one and half months age as a tenant. We felt difficulty and danger to life. My husband got himself clean shaven and then wee both alongwith our three children started on foot to Sultanpuri where my parents were staying. On 2.11.1984 on the way near sultanpuri three persons Danny son of Gorkha, Bishan tea stall vendor, and Prem, all r/o Sultanpuri Block No. C-4 near the house of my parents who were living in H.No. 142 Block C-4 Sultanpuri, met us and they recognized my husband . They immediately killed him with iron rods and then he was burnt by putting kerosene oil on him.
3. I say that when my husband was being killed three policeman were present at the spot and they were saying that my husband should be killed and even my children should be killed. In the meantime my children except the last one who was only 6 days of age, ran to the house of my parents which was nearby. The money which was in my hand amounting to Rs. 8000/- and gold jewellery of 3 tolas were snatched away from me, alongwith half Kg. Of silver. This killing took, place at 6A.M on 2.11.84.
4. When I reached the house of my parents these three persons named above dragged out Hakam Singh my brother and killed him also at about 10A.M. on 2.11.84
5. The police of Sultanpuri refused to record my report nor did they give any assistance. About 400 Sikhs were killed by non-Sikhs at Sultanpuri itself.
6. The culprits be punished and I should be duly compensated for the loss suffered by me.
