Affidavit submitted before Misra Commission (1987).
I, Swaran Kaur W/o S. Dalip Singh, aged about 50 yrs., R/o C-57, DDA Flats, Slum Tenements, Garhi, New Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under: –
1. That at 2-11-84 at noon, I was residing with my family in house No.PZ-C 125 Jiwan Park, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi when a non-Sikh mob of 400 attacked our house. My husband Dalip Singh and my son Joginder Singh tried to save them and family in defence for about 10 minutes. My husband Dalip Singh was killed by the assailants in the compound of our house itself in my presence. My son Jit Singh tried to run away but was killed on the road in front of the house. He was killed by Bhatia of the locality whom I know and can identify. My other son Joginder Singh was having sword in his hand and he managed to run away towards Uttam Nagar. The assailants had beaten me with lathies. My left arm was broken. I was stabbed at the fore arm. My left leg was also broken with lathies. I received number of other injuries on my body. My ear was cut with some sharp weapon. I also received head injuries. One Gudu, owner of Kerosene oil depot in the locality, one Romesh, sweeper in the area, one Bhatia of Kariana shop opp. Property Dealer Sonu are the main culprits who killed my husband and son in my presence and they caused multiple injuries to me. My entire property was looted and house was burnt by them.
2. The police of the area never took any action for the protection of the Sikhs nor any action was taken against the culprits. Police refused to record my report because I was mentioning the names of these culprits/murderers. I can also identify numerous of non-Sikh of the locality who had committed these crimes.
3. Throughout the night of 1.11.84 Gudu had been announcing on loudspeaker time and again that poison has been mixed in the water by the Sikhs and it should not be taken, that a train full of dead bodies of Hindus is received from Punjab and in Tilak Nagar and Subash Nagar, large number of Hindus are killed by Sikhs and there is blood all round on the roads. He had been instigating the non-sikhs/Hindus in this matter throughout the night.
4. Action may be taken against the culprits and concerned police officers.
