Affidavit submitted before Misra Commission (1987).

I, Jasbir Kaur wife of S. Amrik Singh, aged 30 years, resident of School Block, Shakurpur, H.No.230, do hereby solemnly affirm and swear as under: –

1.                  On October 31, 1984, we saw that the Sikhs were being killed on the road. On October 31, upto 2 O’clock in the night I saw that people killed Sikhs after dragging them out of the house. Then we went to sleep. On November 1, we were in our house. We thought that these people will not attack the houses. When we heard that they are killing after dragging out of house then myself, mother-in-law, father-in-law and three children (two daughters and one son) ran to the house of my Jethani (sister-in-law).

2.                  Then we all ran away from that place and hid ourselves in the house of Mr. A.K. Gandhi. We remained there on the night of November 1. On November 2, the Gandhi family was threatened to flush us out otherwise they would kill them also. On November 2, at about 1:30 PM, my husband Amrik Singh, elder brother of my husband Gurdial Singh, his son Davinder Singh (aged 23 years), of their own, left the house saying that all the men in the street had been killed and they will seek refuge somewhere else. But at about 5 PM, the Gram seller who sells gram at the back of our house told me that my husband, his brother and brother’s son have been killed on the road. And after killing, they were burnt.

3.                  On November 2, at 3:30 AM, when we saw the Military men we asked them to rescue us from that place. The persons who killed my husband, his brother and brother’s son are the following: –

a.     Sham Singh Tyagi, Gram seller Lado house,

b.     Madan Scooterwala,

c.      Deep Chand Dubey,

d.     Hamira Singh,

e.     Rajinder Singh junk seller,

f.        Inder Dev, junk seller,

g.     Bhoop Singh Tyagi

h.      Lachiman Dass Gandhi

i.        Raj Pal Gupta

j.        Shanker junk dealer and his two younger brothers.

k.      Arjan junk dealer.

All of them had axes and iron rods of the same size. They all challenged us to come out of the house of Gandhi. And these persons chased by husband and when they came after some time they said that he has been killed.
