Affidavit submitted before Misra Commission (1987).
I, Amarjit Kaur widow of Gurmail Singh, aged 32 years, r/o S-201, Shakarpu School Block, Delhi, solemnly affirm and declare as under: –
1. In the morning of 2-11-84, after the assassination of Smt. Indira Gandhi, when we were sitting in our house, a mob of 4 / 5 hundred came. I was about 9 / 10 AM. They broke our doors and they hit my brother Darshan Singh aged 19 years with lathis. He was hit on the head by the lathis and he fell down and was killed.
2. My husband and our tenant had hid in the neighbour’s house. He was followed there and killed inside that house. I do not know how he was killed but the dead bodies were brought out and burnt by sprinkling kerosene oil. The dead bodies did not burn completely. So, those were cremated again in the evening by our neighbours. Our household goods were looted and they attempted to kill my two minor sons but we saved them by cutting off their hari and the pleadings of Sh. Babu Lal and Surinder (H. No. S-201), our neighbour.
3. I slept at the house of our neighbour. Mithan Lal and Gopi Chand got our neighbour’s house also searched and looted the same. I have lost my husband and brother in these riots. This is my biggest loss which can never be made up. I entreat the Govt. to punish criminals severely.
