Affidavit submitted before Misra Commission (1987).

I, Vidya Rani, aged 32 years wife of S. Jaswant Singh, r/o C-85, DDA Flats, Slum Tenements, Garhi, New Delhi, do hereby on solemn affirmation state and declare as under: –

1.                  I alongwith my family was earlier residing in Qrt. No.41, street No.5, Block No.13, Trilokpuri, Delhi-91, at the relevant time.

2.                  That on 1-11-84, at about 8.30 PM a mob of about 40 – 50 Non-Sikhs comprising of men from Block No.13 & 14 and 25 of Trilokpuri, which was headed by one Khan driver-constable of Delhi Police, r/o Block No.13, Street No.4, Trilokpuri, one Mange, r/o Block No.15 and one Bulesher, sweeper at Block No.14 and several others whom I can identify but I do not know their names, came to our house. Some of them were armed with swords and some others with iron rods, one of them was having pistol and some others were having ‘burchas’. One Dabbu was having burchi in his hand. They abused us and brick batted our house. After some time they went away because no male member came out of the house and my husband was on duty in DESU.

3.                  On 2-11-84, at about 5 AM when my husband came back home in a DESU jeep he was attacked at the turning of Block No.13, Trilokpuri but he was saved. He then reported the matter to the police but the police refused to record the report and to give us police assistance. He then came back to the house.

4.                  On 3-11-84, at about 8 AM about 1000 to 1500 Non-Sikhs attacked our house. When we asked why we were being attacked, I was told by the mob that one train of slain Hindus had come from Punjab and they would not spare any Sikh in Delhi. I was caught by two persons inside the house and one pointed his pistol towards me and demanded to give them jewellery and cash which I did to save the lives of my husband and others.

5.                  Then they killed first Anokha Singh aged 18 years, Bhanja of my husband, then Satnam Singh friend of my husband was killed and thereafter my husband Jaswant Singh 38 years was killed by them. Bhajjan Singh aged 25 yrs. ran out of the house and he was killed there.

6.                  The police refused to record my report and give me any police assistance. My husband and others were killed mainly by the persons named by me above in para No.2 above. The Congress (I) was the main organizer of this killing. My house was looted and then set on fire.

7.                  Action may be taken against the culprits and compensation be give to me.
