Affidavit submitted before Misra Commission (1987).
I, Jeet Singh S/o Ruldu Singh, aged about 25 yrs., R/o 13/195, Kalyanpuri, Delhi, do hereby solemnly afffirm and declare as under: –
1. That I am residing at the aforesaid address since 1976.
2. That on November 1, 1984, at about noon a strong group of more than 3000 persons all armed with lathis, hockey sticks, spears, knives, iron rods etc. came to our street. They were being led by the following persons whom I know personally as they all belong to Kalyanpuri : –
1) Dr. Ashok, a known Congress (I) active worker of the area. R/o 13 Block, Kalyanpuri.
2) Tara Kanjar, r/o Block 13, Kalyanpuri.
3) Puran, r/o Block 13, Kalyanpuri.
4) Kataria, r/o Block 12, Kalyanpuri.
5) Ashok Kumar, r/o 18 Block, Kalyanpuri.
6) Jai Narayan, r/o 13 Block, Kalyanpuri.
7) Ayyad, r/o 13 Block, Kalyanpuri.
SHO Tyagi, of P.S. Kalyanpuri was also accompanying the mob. Instead of saving our lives and stopping the culprits he was instigating them to kill all Sikhs and destroy their property.
3. That these persons, stated in para (2) surrounded my house from all sided and beat mercilessly the following Sikh male members: –
1) Ram Singh (30), my brother
2) Khazan Singh (28), my brother
3) Shyam Singh (26), my brother
After beating brutally they put old tyres on their body, sprinkled some highly inflammable material and set them on fire.
4. That on the night of 31st October,1984, I had got my hair shaved off to avoid being identified as a Sikh and sought refuge in the house of my neighbour wherefrom I saw whole of the occurrence with my own eyes.
